It is our great pleasure to inform you that the 15th International Congress on Plasma Physics (ICPP 2010) will be held in Santiago, capital of Chile, during August 8-13, 2010, in combination with the 13th Latin American Workshop on Plasma Physics (LAWPP 2010). The International Congress on Plasma Physics was first held in Nagoya, in 1980, and followed by the Congresses: Gothenburg (1982), Lausanne (1984), Kiev (1987), New Delhi (1989), Innsbruck (1992), Foz do Iguacu (1994), Nagoya (1996), Prague (1998), Quebec City (2000), Sydney (2002), Nice (2004), Kiev (2006), and Fukuoka (2008). The scope of the Congress is to discuss about the recent progress and future view on plasma science, covering wide range of the aspects on fundamental plasma physics, fusion plasmas, astrophysical plasmas, and plasma applications, and so forth. The Latin American Workshop on Plasma Physics was firstly held in 1982 in Cambuquira, Brazil, followed by the Workshops: Medellín (1985), Santiago (1988), Buenos Aires (1990), Mexico City (1992), Foz do Iguacu (1994, also combined with ICPP), Caracas (1997), Tandil (1998), La Serena (2000), Sao Pedro (2003), Mexico City (2005), and Caracas (2007). The Latin American Workshop on Plasma Physics has the purpose of providing a forum in which the achievements of the Latin American plasma physics communities can be displayed, as well as fostering collaboration between plasma scientists within the region and elsewhere. Both International Committees agreed to carry out these two combined meetings in Santiago de Chile, considering the celebration of the Bicentennial of Chilean Independence. Both meetings are part of the official program of the Comisión Chilena de Energía Nuclear (Chilean Commission of Nuclear Energy) within the framework of the Bicentennial activities. The event will be preceded by a School on Plasma Physics oriented to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young researchers. For further information, click here. It is a pleasure to invite all of you to be part of this great scientific event.
